Join discussion...

"Heckman was most recently at Fox Interactive Media; he joined Fox when his company, Scout.com, was acquired by them in 2005 for $60 million. Heckman was also the chief negotiator at Fox in their $1 billion search deal with Google. In other words, they made a heavyweight addition to the management team. Kleiner Perkins’ John Doerr supposedly recruited him personally." Join discussion...

Join discussion...

"“Social Shopping is exploding among consumers and is likely to be the only way to shop in the future.” “PriceForSure.com is at the forefront of this new class of e-commerce combining two of the most popular on-line activities: social networking and shopping,” says Olubaju. Building on the social networking phenomenon created by MySpace, Priceforsure.com is designed for shopping, browsing, and blogging. Priceforsure.com is unusual among shopping comparison sites because it provides far more than just basic information. Join discussion...

"“We sell about $30,000 worth of books for Amazon every month,” said Mr. Buckman, who gets 8 percent of the take. BookMooch is hardly the first or the only book-swapping site. The list includes SwapTree.com and TitleTrader.com, which also trade CDs and DVDs; SF-Books.com, which specializes in science fiction; and the Book Exchange Network (tbxn.com), which helps college students exchange textbooks. E-Commerce 2.0: Interview with Salim Ismail, Head of Yahoo! Brickhouse

"If you look at the walled garden of content today, whether its eBay or Monster.com or Overture, etc. They basically create and get a lot of value from the ownership of the data. As we get to the UGC (user-generated content) world where users own their own data, what happens to a Monster.com if anybody can publish a job announcement off the website? It then gets syndicated and anybody can aggregate that. The value that they believe in ownership of the data will disappear and where you will get value as a service to layer on top of them."
