Digitale Produktwelten. Was Offline funktioniert kann auch Online funktionieren. Was Offline funktioniert kann eine Basis für Online darstellen. (Das hört sich schon besser an.) Wir haben 3 Beispiele (Amazon, IKEA, Polyvore) näher betrachtet.

Building on the social networking phenomenon created by MySpace, Priceforsure.com is designed for shopping, browsing, and blogging.
Priceforsure.com is unusual among shopping comparison sites because it provides far more than just basic information.

"Independent designers and fashionistas who want to capitalize on social commerce and are looking for an easy way to increase their online sales now have a new option: OURthreads.com. Launched today, the community site lets members buy, sell or trade items from their customized virtual closets.
"There's been big news in the social networking area, we're seeing MySpace and Facebook and other sites attracting a lot of attention, so we decided to create a social networking site for fashion," said co-founder Brian Finn. "We wanted to offer a social networking site for fashion, for people to buy, sell and trade, but also to communicate with each other."
OURthreads allows members to connect to others with similar styles across the fashion spectrum from couture to retro through message boards and by showcasing their virtual closet. When you register with OURthreads you will be given a closet where you can post pictures of yourself, your clothes, your accessories and other items that you would like to share with the community.

"Yahoo! Shopping pioneered the idea of social commerce online when we launched the Shoposphere in 2005, and we are going to continue to bring innovative technology and features to our users and merchant partners.
eCopt Interview Icon What Online product marketplaces, other than Yahoo! Shopping, do you personally use to shop from?
Yahoo Shopping Interview Icon The great thing about comparison shopping engines is that the user doesn’t have to visit multiple sites to try and find the product they want at the best price. Yahoo! Shopping does all of the work, and compares products and merchants side-by-side so that the shopper is able to “look” at products from across the Web on one page."

"StyleFeeder recently launched a personal shopper tool, which made me think it was a good time to sit down with Phil Jacob and his team to get a more in-depth look at the product and the technology.
StyleFeeder has been around since the end of 2005. Initially developed by Jacob, it was quickly bought by TopTenSources and lived as a little widget that you could add to your Web site or your blog. At the beginning of 2007, following a restructuring, it was spun out of TopTenSources as an independent entity, at which point Jacob got funding, brought in a business development team and more technical talent to build out the product."

"The guys from Yahoo! Shopping US have launched their own Facebook app, named “My Favorite Thing“. This application makes good usage of Yahoo! Shopping APIs, to let Facebook users search products, manage list of products and share favorite products with their Facebook friends. The basics of social shopping are there, and I’m waiting for the next level: transform this app into something really fun to use or really useful to use; the current version is between the two, and quickly forgettable in the end. Come on, guys, I’m sure you can transform it into a killer app :)"
