The winner will receive $50.000 cash and additional $50.000 in Amazon Web Services credits, as well as mentoring sessions from an AWS technical expert, and - last but not least - an investment offer from Amazon. "n another dust-up over a mashup taking data by screen-scraping, the classifieds listings giant Craigslist has blocked access to its site from Listpic, a useful mashup that enhances Craigslist listings by adding-in associated photos. Mashups: Mashup Maker Smackdown - Mashable
"It’s official, folks: tools for easy mashup creation are a “must have” if you’re a huge IT company. Intel’s recent announcement of MashMaker puts them side by side with Google, Microsoft and Yahoo!, but there are several other contenders in this unexpectedly crowded space.

"Launching on October 1st, and created by MashupAwards.com, mashup enthusiasts have a whole new competition to start on in MashupChallenge.com.
There are several angles to keep the competition fresh and exciting. First up is the quarterly nature of the game with everything resetting at the beginning of each quarter. The big twist comes in the form that the developers will receive a random set of 5 APIs from the site’s pool. This should help to ensure some fresh and unique ideas coming out of the competition."

Intel’s MashMaker Demo to Debut in Closed Beta in July - SEO by the SEA
"The difficult with creating many of those mashups is that they require some knowledge and programming skills. What if it were easier?
One of the papers published for presentation at SIGMOD’07 in June, was MashMaker: Mashups for the Masses (pdf). The paper was prepared by Rob Ennals of Intel and Minos Garofalakis of Yahoo Research, and presents a tool that makes it easy to create mashups from many sources."

"Dass es durchaus förderlich ist, öffentliche und kostenfrei APIs anzubieten, sieht man an dem Beispiel eBay (siehe auh hier). Die eBay-API ermöglicht es Softwareentwicklern individuelle Applikationen für eBay-Käufer und eBay-Verkäufer zu entwickeln. So gibt es beispielsweise branchen- oder plattformspezifische Lösungen, die Prozesse für die Verkäufer und Käufer optimieren."
